AFL Girls Gala Day

Last Tuesday 14 girls travelled to St Luke's School to participate in the Annual AFL Gala Day competition.  After many lunch time training sessions, an excited and enthusiastic Branyan Road girls team were about to participate in their first AFL experience.

The girls played 3 games in a round-robin style competition with a very close fought-out victory in their first game against Gin Gin SS.  Their next game was against much tougher opposition with Walkervale SS defeating us in a tight battle. The girls never gave up hope and tried their best to the final whistle taking in advice and skills they had learnt from this defeat and their lunch time training.  The girls than banded together to put up a massive score against Agnes Waters SS to win their 3rd game with many of them sharing goal scoring duties.  Their last match saw them play hosts St Luke's in which they proved too strong finishing the day with 3 out of 4 wins.

A big thanks goes out to those families who came out ot support the girls and the girls as well, with their fantastic dedicaiton to training and learning a new game as a team has to be applauded.
